What Makes Skip Tic

Despite spending the first 40 years of his life in the world of baseball, he does have other passions and no longer lists baseball as one of them. here are:

Today he enjoys the following past times (listed In alphabetical order so as not to give the intention that one is more important that the other):

Anne Saylor - It was fate when the two New York Mets fans met at a committee meeting for a non-profit project on Tom Seaver's birthday in November, 1999. They were married three years later on Sand Beach in Bar Harbor, Maine, one of Anne's favorite vacation sites and a place Skip had never experienced until the day of the wedding. Anne originally turned Skip down when he asked her out for their first date but she called back days later begging for a second chance. The picture at the right was taken on a 2005 vacation on the island Kaui in the Hawaian Islands.

BMW Z-3

Skip with his summer time toy, a 1996 BMW Z-3. He's not fanatical about keeping it as clean as it looks in this photo but you can find him driving it in most of the days betwen May and November when he isn't on the way to a client workshop.

Bruce Springsteen - To say Skip is a Bruce Springsteen Fan is an understatement. Skip's wife Anne jokes that in the car and around the house in the CD player it's 'All Bruce All the Time." That's not 100% accurate but Skip admits its not far off. Bruce has music for every mood and every situation in life. Springsteen's music and lyrics combine for a very inspirational and motivational experience, especially live. To date, Skip has been to 52 Live Bruce Springsteen concerts since seeing his first in the fall of 1981. Ask him what his favorite Bruce song is and he says, "depends on the mood." Skip had the privelege of meeting his musical hero in the summer of 1999 when Bruce showed up at a local bar in Long Branch, New Jersey. After playing a few songs with his buddy Joe Grushecky Bruce took pictures and signed autographs for the few diehard fans who stayed around 'til the end before driving off alone on the motorcycle on which he came..

Golf - Skip put away the golf clubs for a number years while concentrating his physical activities aroung yoga and tennis. However, recently he has started picking up his clubs again and reconnected with the game. He and wife Anne play regularly during the season when weather permits. Skip, a lefty, is a member of 'Phil's Phanatics," the Phil Mickelson Fan Club. He jumped as high off the ground as Phil did in 2004 when Mickelson's Master's Winning putt fell into the cup. Anne's a fan of Tiger.

Guitar - It took Skip 45 years, but he learned its never too late to learn music. He has been taking weekly guitar and voice lessons since January, 2005 and enjoys playing and practicing almost daily. He accomplished his goal of playing and singing at a local Open Mic night just 15 months after picking up the guitar.

New York Rangers NHL Hockey
- starting his 6th season as a season ticket holder (fulfilling another of his childhood dreams). A lifelong Rangers Fan, having attended his first game in 1968 still marks one of his greatest experiences is the Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup Championship, their frist in 54 years. Although many Rangers fans feel they can now 'die in peace' after that Cup win, Skip longs for another one. After a solid 2006-07 season, they could be poised for a serious run at the Cup this fall. The license plate on Skip's car represents the players' uniform numbers which the NY Rangers have retired, #1 Ed Giacomin, MM (actually # is for 11, Mark Messier, but NY State would not allow a license plate to be all numbers so something else needed to represent Mess) Mark Messier, #7 Rod Glibert & #35 Mike Richter. Not sure what I'll do after next season's Brian Leetch #2 ceremony.

Sage - The universe brought us "Sage" at a time when Anne and I weren't really looking for a new member of our family, but we are both glad to have made the decision to take her in. "Sage" was orphaned in the spring of 2006 when he master passed away and no one in her family or friends wanted to take an adult (6 years old) cat.. We were not ready for a new cat, as our present cat at the time was challenged with diabetes and was all we could handle, but we decided to save "Sage" from the shelter and we have been blessed. "Sage" is the coolest cat I've ever met. You can read more about "Sage" in the my blog - Breakthrough F.O.C.U.S. Blog

Tennis - A regular tennis player before being sidelined by a 2006 knee injury that required surgery, Skip is just now getting back into playing consistently. Big fan's of Andre Agassi, Skip & Anne were lucky enough to see 4 of his 7 US Open Matches on the way to the 2005 Finals. They are still searching for their next tennis player to follow. Anne likes Roger Federer, Skip leans towards the lefty (of course), Rafael Nadal.

Yoga - Skip has been a devout yoga practictioner since 1997. September of 2007 will mark the 10th anniversary of Skip walking into the Mid-Hudson School of Yoga and meeting Director James Amarish Caruso, with whom he has studied ever since. Many of the focus strategies Skip uses in his coaching and consulting work come from the inspiration and insights he continues to learn as he grows in his yoga and meditation practice.
